KEYBOARD CLASS
This course is designed to acquaint students with the piano keyboard. Students will learn basic music theory, develop the ability to read and perform keyboard music, and become familiar with harmonization and improvisation techniques.
OBJECTIVES
Students will:
1. be able to read and perform basic melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic notation.
2. be able to construct chords and harmonize simple melodies.
3. be able to demonstrate a knowledge of correct hand positions.
4. be able to improvise melodies in various styles.
5. be able to perform selected pieces written for the piano keyboard.
6. use problem solving as a daily practice technique.
7. develop a sense of respect for self and others.
